Gameplay
The core of the game involves a 3-Dimensional Cartesian game world. The game world extends to infinity in all directions, but in practical use, contains objects from (-40,-40,-20) to (40,40,20). Each power is given a quadrant with starbases to defend. Federation space is defined by positive X and Y coordinates, while Klingon space has negative X and positive Y coordinates, and Romulan space has positive X and negative Y coordinates. Negative X and Y coordinates is Unknown space.
Players can command their ship to fly in by specifying course, bearing and velocity values. All course and bearing measurements are in Gradians. A full circle in Gradians is 400 degrees, so courses can be set from 0 to 400 degrees, while bearing can be set from -100 to 100 degrees. Velocity is measured in Warp Factor. Warp Factors are an exponential measurement. W/F 7 is not seven times faster than W/F 1 – it is 343 times faster.
By flying through 3D space players can search for other ships and bases. They can attack these ships and bases when found, and in turn, be attacked by them.
